Live Scanning is an ink-less process where your fingerprint images are captured electronically in seconds and sent to the FBI in a digitized format.
LiveScan is faster and cleaner than the traditional method. Electronic fingerprinting reduces the likelihood of illegible fingerprints and will reduce the overall application processing time.
Ink fingerprint cards are the traditional method of collecting fingerprints.
A person’s fingertips are rolled in ink to cover the entire fingerprint area. Then, each finger is rolled onto prepared cards from one side of the fingernail to the other. These are called rolled fingerprints.

With electronic fingerprinting, there is no ink or card. Your fingerprints are “rolled” or laid flat across a glass plate and scanned.
Ink is applied to each of your fingers which are then rolled across a fingerprint card to obtain your prints.
Live Scan fingerprinting should only take approximately five to ten minutes.
The ink card method can take 15 to 20 minutes.
You need a valid state or federally issued form of identification so we can prove your identity.
Identification must bear your picture and signature. A valid driver’s license, state identification card, passport, or CHL is acceptable.
Applicants will not be permitted to be fingerprinted without proper identification.
